Back to Black

Well, with my blog set back to a boring black background, we enter a new year. News this morning is not good, 61 feared dead in a Bangkok nightclub fire, economy in a tailspin, etc, etc. But here on Ferret Times I will continue to produce the kind of drivel my readers are used to.

I had a decent holiday, given trhat I spent most of it either working, shopping or eating. I did find three hours to take part in a squash tournament, which means I enter the new year with aching knees, stiff back, sore shoulder, all the things I have missed about the beautiful game.

I fly back tomorrow 2nd, in the office monday, off to the platform wednesday-ish. amusing anecdotes to follow shortly. Meanwhile happy new year to all. Let's see if we can get the hit count beyond the 5k mark this year. That will give me something to cheer about.

Be good.

  1. Good morning and happy new year to you ... yes you cant believe I am the first to read your post can you ... LOL

    Sooo.... who won the squash???

Im glad you think squash is beautiful - I cant even get my ball to fly across the court - its one of the very few things I simply cant do - yet I can really thwack a tennis ball ... go figure!

So I have news ... this chap in Saudi contacted me and has been chatting me up - he is English and works as a Cathodic Protection Engineer. He is a fellow Saggittarian and quite bright (that surprises me abouts sags) and very funny (even more surprising says she tongue in cheek). Divorced - no kids and a mother and brother. What you reckon - he sounds very genuine. Looking for a woman (thank heavens or it could have been akward) who can look after themselves while he is over there and give him a home base. All bells and whistles included. Says he is desperately lonely (read as you wish). Has been in the middle east for 20 odd year. So what do you think - do I chance it.

Ogf course my reply was the usual sailor on shore leave story blah blah ... but things have been very interesting and he sent me a copy of his passport so that I could see a pic of him. Nice looking - kindly too - very similar to Molly's Bill. You had best let Lyn read this too.

OK I await your reply ... others welcome to respond as well ... go on dont be shy!

Meanwhile have a safe trip home and thank you for the Dear Agony Column being back on line ...ta ta

  2. And what, he wants to come see you? If he's been on his own for twenty years you will have difficulty assimilating him into a fair and equal relationship. His personal space will be enormous and you will only enter it under his rules. Not good. Having said that, give it a try - we'd all love it to work out for you.

This site is in danger of turning into an agony column. I'll just go with the flow shall I?

  3. Thanks for the advice Russell, now pray tell, how has New Years Day been and God speed back to the salt mine. Take care. Just been to see Australia - it was fantastic. Hugh Jackman is cute!!! A damn good story line though dealt with some touchy issues too. Oh well back to work tomorrow for me as well. Send love to Lyn and have fun. Bye

  4. Odette - what on earth is a Catholic Protection Engineer? Does he work for the Pope? - sounds all very Da Vinci code to me. On his on for 20 years? Sounds like he's just out of prison.

  5. Its a C-A-T-H-O-D-I-C Protection engineer ... evidently they put electricity on metal structures to stop them corroding ... but what stops them being LIVE?

I dont think I could really trust anyone who worked for the pope anyway? All the RING-KISSING !!!

HA HA HA ...oops better go ....

  8. Ha, sorry John I've now worked out who you are. brmc Bridge Road Motorcycles. Thanks for reading.

I expect I'll get to ride the bike in June some time after this commisioning phase of the job. Full report then. I don't expect much since it only has 22 horsepower, and sure enough when we rode the demo bike it was very pedestrian, but ideal for around town where I'll be using it.

i still have the Hyosung at home and I'm missing it badly. Do you sell many? It's a damned good bike.
