On a more thorough inpection, it seems the plant didn't fare so well during my absence as my initial cursory glance suggested. Curse my unobservant eye.
Here are some pictures of said foliage showing the alarming white crud and brown fronds.
Any ideas, you haughty culturalists out there? No, not you Maureen.
..and please don't tell the wife. She'll kill me with a glance and a tut.

Oh oh ... you have got fungus ... not between your toes (well I hope not ... giggle) but on your plant. Now the T'ster could take a swab and culture it with something up his nose and tell you what it is but I think its from hot dank conditions. Check with Lyn but I think you need to cut off the dead leaves and spray it with sumthing that you would find called a fungiside available at the chemist. You could try dusting it with foot rot powder or spray ... I cant imagine you would find a garden centre in a hurry but there might be something in the local grocers, but I would go with the foot spray. After all - what doesnt kills will certainly fix it. Good luck.
ReplyDeletelook ere ... if you are desperate you could always tenderly rub foot cream onto the leaves ... wot? You dont feel that way about your plant - nope I didnt think so.
